State of Michigan

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget within the State of Michigan is responsible for ensuring the integrity and management of critical information, communication, and technology services to Michigan citizens.

When the State of Michigan decided to move some of its workloads to Red Hat OpenShift, the staff realized they needed a security partner that provided deep integrations with OpenShift to enable full life cycle container and Kubernetes security. The state was looking to address several security concerns before moving into production, including adhering to compliance policies, ensuring network segmentation and enforcement, delivering vulnerability management, and detecting runtime threats.

The State of Michigan chose StackRox as its container and Kubernetes security partner because of its deep integrations with Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift certification. State of Michigan sought out the approach of leveraging native Kubernetes capabilities for policy enforcement instead of injecting a third-party proxy for controls, which impacts application performance and uptime.
